Managing Director policyIQ
Resources Global Professionals
1670 One PPG Place I Pittsburgh, PA 15222
Phone: 412.263.3330
About Rocco...
Mr. Tarasi became a Managing Director of Resources Global Professionals in
July 2003 when Resources acquired his previous company, Snap River Technologies.
Since 2000, Mr. Tarasi had been the founder and President of Snap River,
a software development and consulting firm providing innovative solutions
for policy, procedure, and internal control management. As a Managing Director
with Resources, he maintains responsibility for managing the company's
policyIQ® product line, maintaining its customer relationships, and
coordinating related consulting engagements.
Mr. Tarasi spent the majority of his career at Arthur Andersen LLP in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania, where he was previously a Manager in the Assurance practice
responsible for both internal and external audit engagements. He managed
companies in a broad range of industries and was responsible for the largest
international clients in the office. He also managed a number of initial
and secondary public offerings and M&A transactions.
Mr. Tarasi recognized the difficulty companies faced in managing all of their
policy and procedure documentation, not just in Accounting and Finance but
in other departments like Human Resources, Operations, and Information
Technology. When he founded Snap River, there was no recognized methodology
or process for managing this documentation, and no software application designed
specifically for this purpose. He developed the Policy Management Process,
which established a methodology for companies to follow in managing their
documentation, and then authored the Effective Policy Management Best Practice,
a practical list of best practice steps that was published in the Journal
of Accountancy in 2002.
The Effective Policy Management Best Practice provided the basis for designing
policyIQ®, a web-based software application for policy and procedure
management that follows and automates many of the best practice steps.
policyIQ® was released in 2002 and is now used by public companies for
compliance with sections 302 and 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and by both
public and private companies as an authoring tool and central repository
for all of their policies and procedures.
Mr. Tarasi was also previously the Chief Financial Officer of a start-up
technology company and an Investment Banker. He is a Certified Public Accountant
and has been a speaker at dozens of seminars and training sessions on subjects
including entrepreneurship, policy and procedure management, internal controls,
risk assessments, and compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. He graduated
Cum Laude from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Tarasi can be contacted at rocco.tarasi@resources-us.com for any questions
about internal controls, policies and procedures, or to schedule a one-hour
online demo of policyIQ®. The Effective Policy Management White Paper
and other related information can be found at www.policyiq.com or
www.resourcesglobal.com. |

Speaker: Keith Fowler of LG&E
Keith Fowler has been Manager of IT Security for LG&E Energy for
approximately four years. Previously he held positions in the IT Operations
area, including Manager of IT Production, and technical support roles in
the networking and distributed systems support areas. Prior to joining the
Information Technology department, Keith spent 15 years in the Power Generation
Engineering and Administration area of LG&E, where he provided development
and support for distributed control systems and developed compliance monitoring
tools for the environmental and production support areas
Keith has extensive experience in networking, operating systems, and security.
He has in-depth knowledge of intrusion detection and prevention; hacker
techniques and exploits; system forensics and investigations; and auditing
networks, perimeters, and firewalls.
Topic: Perimeter Security
Protecting your company's network perimeter has never been a bigger challenge.
In fact, some would argue that the concept of the perimeter itself is obsolete.
Prior to five or so years ago, the boundary of most enterprise networks was
well defined and usually could be drawn at the border connection to the outside
world. Today, with the preponderance of B2B connections, mobile clients,
remote access, customer access to applications (B2C), and multiple security
zones, coupled with many threat vectors, the perimeter is complex and difficult
to get our arms around. This session will focus on the evolution of the
perimeter, basic architectural suggestions for ensuring protection of our
networks, firewall auditing techniques, and other security best-practices.

If you are not a Certified Information Systems Auditor, please consider adding
this important credential to your present skill set.
Note that the CISA exam is only given once per year. In addition, the cost
for 2003 ISACA members to sit for the exam is $345.
Doing the math, it's easy to realize that passing this exam on the first
sitting is not only timely, but also cost effective. This goal of this FREE
course is to increase your chances of passing the 2003 exam.
Please contact Jeannie Riggs at (502) 580-1020 or jriggs@humana.com to RSVP
by March 28, 2003.
